Sealed proposals will be received by Mark Lyons with North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Parks & Recreation until 2 PM on January 25, 2024 at the Hanging Rock State Park Visitor Center (1790 Hanging Rock Park Road, Danbury, NC 27016), for renovation construction at Vade Mecum at Hanging Rock State Park at which time and place bids will be opened and read for the furnishing of labor, material, and equipment entering into the construction of:

The project is an interior and exterior renovation of the existing approximately 14,000 square feet Vade Mecum Hotel. The scope of work includes site improvements such as new asphalt and gravel roadways, new concrete sidewalks, new parking areas, and site utility improvements – inclusive of undergrounding existing overhead electrical lines and the relocation or addition of new sanitary and water lines.


Alternates include the renovation of approximately 5,000 square feet of the existing Tise Hall Gymnasium, approximately 2,200 square feet of the existing Chapel of Thanks, and the three existing cabins totaling approximately 2,300 square feet. The alternate scope also includes the new construction of an approximately 1,200 square feet restroom facility.


Work shall include demolition, new partitions, new exterior insulation and siding, new architectural finishes, HVAC, lighting and power, plumbing, and fire suppression – all to be constructed on the Vade Mecum site at Hanging Rock State Park. All buildings will be considered type VB construction, although there will be a mix of wood and CMU framing on site.


Bids will be received for single prime contractors. All proposals shall be lump sum. Pre-Bid and Preferred Brand Alternates Meeting

Contractors interested in bidding as prime bidders are required to attend the mandatory pre-bid and preferred brand alternates meeting, which will be held on December 14, 2023 at 10 AM, at Vade Mecum at Hanging Rock: 1160 Camp Sertoma Drive, Danbury, NC 27601.

The meeting will address project specific questions, issues, bidding procedures and bid forms.

 Complete plans, specifications, and contract documents will be open for inspection after December 6, 2023 and Monday through Friday during normal office hours in the office of:

A refundable plan deposit of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) in cash, check payable to Accent Imaging, or credit card is required for each set. The full plan deposit will be returned by Accent Imaging, via mail or credit card refund, to those bidders provided all documents are returned to Accent Imaging in good, usable condition (as determined by HH Architecture) within ten (10) days after the bid date. Contractor will be required to pay for all shipping.
