The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department (PRCRD) invites firms to submit bids for the renovation of the Walnut Creek Athletic Complex (WCAC) as shown in the drawings related to field irrigation. Phase 2, Site Work and Building Renovation / Replacement, will be bid separate from this bid. Timing may require different contractors to coordinate and work simultaneously on certain areas of this project. The complex was developed in 1992 and was a game changer for the softball community. Housing nine lighted softball fields capable of accommodating youth fast-pitch to adult men’s slow-pitch programs, WCAC quickly became a destination facility. The complex has served two primary roles over the last 20+ years. 1) It is the host venue for the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department Adult Softball programs where 800+ athletes play nightly over two seasons, and 2) it is a tournament destination for all varieties of competitive softball generating $2.5 million annual economic impact. WCAC has been the host for the NCA Division III Softball Championships, NCHSAA Softball Championships, PONY Championships, North Carolina State Games and the NCSU, Shaw University and St. Augustine University Softball teams. In total this complex hosts 36-40 weekend tournaments in addition to PRCR spring/fall programs.
A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on April 26, 2017 @ 9:00 am on site on the second story of Wheelhouse One (1201 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh, NC). Firms specializing in similar athletic field irrigation projects are invited to attend. ATTENDANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Purchase of the entire bid set includes all plans and specifications, including addenda. The purchase cost of the bid documents is nonrefundable.
